Established in 1984, by John Andrew Roque Jr. and Kathryn Ryan, Newport Specialty Foods began as an inspiration to provide the local food industry with something different. Tired of seeing the same products on store shelves, and little variance in the items offered at restaurants and gourmet shops, Roque began to research the possibility of importing domestic and international delicacies and distributing them to those daring to be different.
Newport Specialty Foods has maintained its business focus since its inception, as well as its family roots. Kathryn Ryan and Andy Roque have overseen the transition of the company from an idea, to a major player in today's marketplace. Together they have managed all aspects of the company - from new product lines, to developing distribution channels, creating integrated marketing campaigns, sourcing and sampling, and on-time deliveries. One of the keys to success in this business is product turn, meaning shorter shelf life and increased quality control of the end product. Most of our items are stocked ready to ship, so that orders can be filled quickly and delivered to you when you need them.
